Lesson 21: What God Can Do
“Pray continually.” I Thessalonians 5:17
The saints used to call it “praying through.” The phrase came to mean a refusal to give up in prayer. They were going to pray until God’s answer was heard and His way was clear. More than old-fashioned stubbornness, perhaps this was born out of the simple fact that they had witnessed God’s power and were willing to hold out until He moved again in His will, way and time.
What about us? Are we growing tired of praying? What might things look like if we prayed just a little longer? Are we hungry and thirsty enough? From a deeper relationship to tangible provision, what might the Lord do in and through us if we fully surrender and “pray through?” Could the coolest well burst forth if we are willing to dig just a few more inches deeper?
A.C. Dixon has said, “When we depend upon organizations, we get what organizations can do; when we depend upon education, we get what education can do; when we depend upon man, we get what man can do; but when we depend upon prayer, we get what God can do.”
Don’t stop now. Keep praying, keep believing and focus on what God can do!
