Lesson 6: Gentleness.
“Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” Philippians 4:5
We live in a harsh world of cruel realities. Each and every day we have an opportunity to influence that world with the grace and character of Jesus Christ. With the news filled with increasing global hostilities and local crime, and with even the Body of Christ finding itself at odds on many issues, a little gentleness could sure go a long way.
Max Lucado has said, “I choose gentleness… Nothing is won by force. I choose to be gentle. If I raise my voice may it be only in praise. If I clench my fist, may it be only in prayer. If I make a demand, may it be only of myself.”
How are you interacting and reacting to people and the situations you find yourself in lately? How far would your influence in relationships and leadership go if you softened up your approach just a little?
During this 40 days of prayer and fasting, ask the Lord to give you the gentle strength of the Good Shepherd who can both slay a lion and cradle a lamb.
