“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19
Believe it. God is birthing something new in and through your life in 2011!
Perhaps 2010 wasn’t your best year? Maybe you find yourself a bit cynical, even jaded. I don’t blame you. I’ve been there myself. “I’ll believe it when I see it!” may just be what comes to mind when someone speaks of future blessing? After all, no one gets something for nothing. Right? So, when it comes to God’s promise of something new, “What’s the catch?” might be your response. There’s no catch, just a simple promise. It’s God’s all for your everything! That’s all the Lord asks and all He promises in return. Of course, I wouldn’t recommend this deal with just anyone. However, seeing as though this deal is with the fully invested and infinitely loving Father, Son and Holy Spirit… I say take the risk, make the deal and see what happens!
Just what does it mean to hold up your end of the bargain and give God everything? The great reformer John Wesley established a covenant renewal prayer that millions have shared in each New Year’s Eve. I pray you take it to heart and not only make it a solemn plea, but a lifestyle commitment made possible only as you surrender fully to the Holy Spirit’s power…
”I am no longer my own, but thine. Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt. Put me to doing, put me to suffering. Let me be employed by thee or laid aside for thee, exalted for thee or brought low for thee. Let me be full, let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven. Amen.”
God will do a new thing in your life this year! You can start over. Just give Him everything and He’ll give you His all through the love and grace of Jesus Christ. What a deal! It’s a risk worth taking!
Happy New Year!
